Upsherin (Chalakeh)

  • The service is provided free of charge.
  • Ceremony hours: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday, Thursday: 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

  • The ceremony will be conducted by a professional guide on behalf of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation who will meet your family at the entrance to the Western Wall and accompany you throughout the event.

  • The ceremony lasts approximately 30 minutes and is specially designed for young children.

  • For security reasons, scissors may not be brought into the Western Wall area. Scissors will be provided by us as part of the ceremony package.

  • At the conclusion of the ceremony, the child will receive a keepsake to cherish for a lifetime: an elegant commemorative certificate marking the occasion, featuring a transparent window containing the hair that was cut, as well as a small tzitzit garment embroidered with the words: “My Upsherin was celebrated at the Western Wall.”

  • Advance registration is required at least one week in advance.
